According to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the shipping industry was responsible for approximately 2.89% of global CO2 emissions in 2018. This may not sound like a lot, but if left unchecked, emissions from the maritime sector are projected to triple by 2050, which would account for up to 17% of global emissions.

Although the maritime sector will continue to rely on traditional fuels in the foreseeable future, without our strong commitments and leadership the sector will not meet its decarbonization target.
